SEA Games 2011, Logo and Pictogram Design Competition

The Southeast Asian Games (also known as the SEA Games), is a biennial multi-sport event involving participants from the current 11 countries of Southeast Asia. The 26th Southeast Asian Games is scheduled to be held in Bandung and Semarang, Indonesia in 2011. This will be the fourth time for Indonesia to host the SEA Games.

Bandung and Semarang will act as main hosts for the games. And they will be helped by Jakarta, the capital city, and Palembang, capital city of South Sumatra.

The 26th SEA Games Organizing Committee is having a Logo Design Competition as an effort to encourage all Indonesian people to participate on the event.

Format of Competition

  • This competition is open to only individuals. Group submissions are not allowed.
  • Members of the Indonesian SEA Games Organizing Committee (ISEAGOC), the panel of judges and their immediate families are not permitted to take part in this competition.
  • Professional organizations are not permitted to take part in this competition but their employees may participate in the competition in their personal capacity.
  • Each participant may submit only one design proposal.

Judging

  • Contest entries will be judged by a panel of local and international experts and their decision will be final.

Submission

  • Entries can only be submitted online:

  • All participants must complete the entry form which includes:
    a. Personal particulars
    b. Creative rationale (in about 200 words) explaining the concept of the design.
  • All online entries should not exceed 1MB in file size and must be submitted in .jpeg or .gif format.
  • Participants may be asked to submit a higher resolution rendition of their design.
  • The closing date for submission is 30 November 2009.

Guidelines for Logo Design

  • The logo should cover three broad themes:

a.       Olympism Values

These values come from the fundamental principles, and have been worded in a way that seems relevant for educational purposes.

b.      Identity of Indonesia as the host

In this case, four of the chosen provinces: South Sumatra, West Java, East Java and DKI Jakarta.

  • The SEA Games 2011 logo should include the following 4 elements:

a.       Name of the Cities and the year of the SEA Games.

b.      The word mark "SEA Games".

  • The SEA Games 2011 logo should include the following features:

a.       Dynamic

b.      Environment friendly

c.       Achievement

d.      Sustainability

  • Traditional Boat Race,
  • Dancesport,
  • Chess,
  • Volleyball (Indoor , Beach),
  • Karate,
  • Baseball,
  • Softball,
  • Bowling,
  • Equestrian,
  • Cycling (Road Race, Mountain Bike).

Overall Best Design
From all the submitted design, ISEAGOC will pick the best three design, each will be rewarded 5 million Rupiahs
