Background

 IOC (International Olympic Committee) Commission of Athlete:

Was formed on 27 October, 1981. The organization provides a network between athletes (Olympian) with the IOC.

 

Rule 21 of the Olympic Charter

 

"An IOC Athletes\' Commission shall be constituted, the majority of whose members shall

be athletes elected by athletes participating in the Olympic Games. The election shall be

held on the occasion of the Games of the Olympiad and the Olympic Winter Games in

accordance with regulations adopted by the IOC Executive Board, in consultation with the

Athletes\' Commission, and communicated to the IFs and NOCs not later than one year

prior to the Olympic Games at which such election is to be held.

 

All regulations and procedures of the IOC Athletes\' Commission shall be adopted by the

IOC Executive Board after consulting of the IOC Athletes\' Commission."

 

The commission was constituted of 19 members. Acting as the president of the commission is Frank Fredericks (athletics). 12 members of the commission were nominated by athletes participating in the Olympic Games. Seven others were nominated by President of IOC based on race, sports and territory.

 

Commission of Athletes of the Indonesian Olympic Committee (KOI)

  • Vision: to rebuilt the images of national athletes on international event through the development of the athletes\' life skills in practicing the iconic life pattern and obeying the ethic code and behaving appropriately according the Olympism values. (Fundamental Principles: Body, Will and Mind)
  • Mission: increasing the performance of Indonesian athletes by creating a strong foundation and based on the international standards especially for the potential young athletes (Youth and Junior) in routine exercise through a specific coaching bout Living Excellence and skills.
  • Goal:

o   To create a mode of behavior of national athletes that can be a role model or an example to other athletes.

o   Achieving the awareness among the Indonesian athletes in having and conducting a good behavior and personality as Indonesian Citizen (Code of Conduct).

o   The improvement of life security and future support through ACE.

 2008

  • The formation of Indonesian Athletes Commission
  • Asian athletes survey for the Asian Beach Games, October 2008/OCA.
  • Annually technical consolidation on the program event for the Beijing Olympic Games, Augusts 2008/OCA.
  • Discussing the problems and program event through a Conference Call, December 2008/OCA.

2009

  • Promoting the Olympic sports to all elementary school in Indonesia (Olympic Education)
  • Giving the direction and insight in composing the education extra curriculum, outside the sport activities (Athlete\'s Career Program, Life after Sports &Job Training Development), especially to the Indonesian national athletes (IOC\'s Living Excellence).
  • To coordinate and promote a drug free environment to sport society in a daily bases.
  • To create national athletes with a good behavior and personality, reflecting an excellence role model to all Indonesian people (Code of Conduct/Culture of Excellence).
